World Equestrian Games - The Kentucky Experience in a Nutshell

During its 2010 hosting of the FEI World Equestrian Games in Lexington, the Kentucky Horse Park will have at the ready over 800,000 square feet of space dedicated to the Trade Show, the Kentucky Experience, and Equine Village. These may not mean a whole hill of beans to you yet, but as you read on, you will find that there will never be a dull moment between competitions and contests. Taking full advantage of this once in a lifetime chance to spread a little bit of Bluegrass hospitality to the entirety of the world as it visits, these important stations will bring a great deal of attention to what makes Kentucky true horse country.

The Trade Show will be dedicated to shopping. Shopping for anything that a visitor, spectator, or visiting competitor could possibly need in order to remember their experience at the world games will be found here. Retailers, shops, vendors, and just about anyone else with premium services and merchandise to sell have been given space here in order to give the public what it wants of Kentucky without ever stepping foot away from the park. There are 300 spaces available at the Trade Show, and vendors will be announced at a later date.

The equine industry in all of its forms and functions will be present and eager to showcase what the world of horses has to offer everyone. Representing breeds and disciplines alike, the spectator will receive vital information about a great spectrum of the horse business from these enthusiasts and professionals.

Perhaps the most ambitious undertaking of its kind in the state's history, the Kentucky Experience will gather representatives and journeymen from all over the state to create an all-encompassing tour of Kentucky right at the park. Visitors will be stimulated with the tastes, crafts, merchandise, culture, and overall feel of the state in one exciting place. This is a venue that the park is extremely pleased to offer to its equestrian fans from all around the world and the country. Vancouver Olympics 2010

The Vancouver Olympic Games will commence in February, 2010. Vancouver was awarded these Olympic Games after narrowly defeating competing cities Pyeongchang, South Korea and Salzburg, Austria. This will be the second Winter Olympics hosted by Canada and the third Olympics hosted overall. Montreal played host to the 1976 Summer Games and Calgary played host to the 1988 Winter Games.

The Winter Olympics are an international multi-sport event held every four years. They feature sports held on ice or snow. Events including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, Nordic combined, ski jumping, and speed skating have been at every Winter Olympic Games since their inception. Other events such as luge, short track speed skating, bobsled, and freestyle skiing have been added over the years.

The Vancouver Games will be hosted by a number of different venues around Vancouver, British Columbia. The City of Vancouver will host hockey, figure skating, short track skating and some Paralympics events. Whistler, BC will host the alpine skiing, cross country skiing, bobsled and luge events. Richmond will play host to the long track speed skating while West Vancouver will host the freestyle skiing.

The first Winter Olympics were held in Chamonix, France in 1924. Prior to the first proper Winter Olympics, figure skating and ice hockey had included as events in the Summer Olympics. The Games have been held every four years since then with an interruption from 1940-48 due to the Second World War. In 1992, the Winter Games split from the Summer Games schedule in an attempt to attract more advertising money. The next Winter Games on this schedule were the Lillehammer Games in 1992.

There have only been a select number of countries to host the Winter Olympics. As mentioned, this will be Canada's second time to host the Winter Games. Other countries to host the Games twice have been Italy, Japan, Austria and Norway. France has hosted the Games three times while the United States has hosted the Games four times. The next Winter Games will then be hosted by Sochi, Russia in 2014, marking the first time that Russia has hosted a Winter Olympic Games.

In anticipation of the Vancouver Olympics, the Canadian Olympic Association developed a program with the lofty goal of Canadian athletes achieving more Olympic medals than ever before. This program has been called "Own the Podium" and has been in effect over the past number of years. The results of this program will be seen at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

3. Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising.

This game includes plenty of new bells and whistles to keep any PC gamer intrigued. The most prominent one is the Chaos Space Marines in the multi-player mode. Other new additions include a fun new campaign, and new units for the races included the previous installment.

4. Mass Effect 2.

This is unquestionably a new-and-improved addition to the series. Mass Effect 2 includes improved shooting, killer graphics, and a thrilling story. The developers have confirmed that they've totally upgraded the combat system. A heavy weapons system is a new feature in the series. This allows players to kill an enemy multiple times. Another new feature of the game is the function of regenerating health as the main health mechanic. This differs from the use of "medi-gel" in the first installment.

5. StarCraft 2.

Without a doubt, this is definitely one of the most anticipated games of the year. An oldie-but-goodie, it's hard to believe that the game is over a decade old. Over 11 million units later, the original game that started it all, is still going strong. Many gamers are eagerly anticipating the upgraded graphics and returning online mode of Star Craft II. Then there's the unanswered question about how the game's story will unfold. It's likely that Blizzard will launch the game around summertime.

6. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.

WoW games constantly stay at the top of PC gaming charts, and it's certainly justified. Each new installment includes new and exciting content, with "Cataclysm" being no exception. Some of its features include a revisiting of the WoW zones, and new Goblin and Worgen races. How long with the WoW reign in the world of PC gaming last?
